SUMMARY:ADR Seminar: Settlement Strategy & the Use of ADR and Mediation in 
 Construction Disputes
DESCRIPTION:TECBAR is delighted to be hosting a series of lectures and a pa
 nel session on the theme of ADR.  Attendees will hear from counsel at the
  construction Bar (both private practice and in house) and others as to th
 eir experiences and knowledge of alternative dispute resolution.\n\nThis s
 ession will run from 2:30pm to 5:30pm at 4 Pump Court.\n\nTo register for

 m: Hugh Raven (Wilmott Dixon): The position of the claimant. How and when 
 does the claimant generally want to settle disputes? What prompts a claima
 nt to want to settle? Why is mediation important\; what outcomes are sough
 t\; what is wanted from a mediator\; what is wanted from Counsel? What oth
 er forms of ADR or negotiation are preferred?\n 	3.20pm: Justine Ash (Seni
 or Litigation Counsel\, NHBC): the role of the insurer. How and when gener
 ally does an insurer want to settle disputes? What motivates an insurer to
  pay out and when? How do insurers approach mediation (timing\, format &am
 p\;\, strategy?) Attendees at mediation: levels of authority to settle\; s
 eniority\, etc.\n 	3.40pm: Martin Burns (head of ADR Research &amp\; Devel
 opment\, RICS):  The practical side of ADR and how RICS can help: use of 
 appointment services for ADR\; other ADR avenues: assisted negotiation\,
