TECBAR Annual Conference 2018

Regrettably and with our apologies for the short notice, due to logistical reasons, it has become necessary to cancel the TECBAR Conference that was to be held on 27 January 2018. The plan is to rearrange the event for a little later in the year (March/April) and it is hoped that we are able to keep the programme intact.
You will all be aware of the new rules in relation to CPD. It is now necessary for practitioners to complete a plan of the CPD that you are going to undertake in the forthcoming year, setting out your “learning objectives” and thereafter to keep evidence of the CPD that has been undertaken, to reflect of the achievement of your objectives and report on whether or not you have completed your CPD.
Although the new system is less prescriptive than that which previously existed, it does not mean that there are no requirements at all. We also understand that the BSB plan to “spot check” a third of barristers for compliance.
The provision of appropriate CPD to its members is an important part of TECBAR’s activities and the Annual Conference is a key part of TECBAR’s planned programme to assist you in meeting your obligations as regards CPD. We would suggest that members produce their CPD “plans” by the end of February and would suggest that the inclusion of the Annual Conference on that plan would go a substantial way towards meeting your obligations. In relation to the cancelled conference, full refunds will be provided to those who have signed up and paid. For those who paid using Stripe on the TECBAR website, refunds have already been arranged. TECBAR will contact those who have paid by cheque and by BACS for account details to enable the refund to be made directly.
