Liverpool BPCF lecture: Litigating Building Safety – have we got it right?

When

17/07/2025
4:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The Liverpool Business and Property Court Forum (LBPCF) will be hosting a lecture on 17 July 2025 to be delivered by the Judge in Charge of the TCC in London, Mr Justice Waksman, chaired by His Honour Judge Cadwallader.

The lecture is entitled ‘Litigating Building Safety – have we got it right?’

Mr Justice Waksman will also be joined by Mr Justice Adam Constable, Chair of the Technology and Construction Court BSA working group, and Judge Jonathan Holbrook, FTT Regional Judge for the North with much BSA experience.  The judges will together look at how BSA claims and applications have been dealt with in the Courts and in the First Tier Tribunal.

This will include consideration of applications for Remediation and Remediation Contribution Orders in the FTT and for Building Liability and Information Orders in the TCC, and how claims made in both will be managed efficiently and where they should be heard.  The talks will discuss recent trends in substantive BSA-related litigation, especially multi-party cladding cases, and how they are case-managed with a particular emphasis on expert evidence and the use of AI.   They will also look at the recent decision of the Supreme Court in URS Corporation v BDW Trading [2025] UKSC 21.

There will be time for questions to the Judge on all of this and on any other BSA-related topic.

The event will be in person only at the Brett Lecture Theatre at the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, 60 Oxford Street L7 3NY.
