TECBAR was founded in 1983 and now has 400 members. It is the specialist bar association for employed or self-employed barristers who practise in the Technology and Construction Court, forming part of the UK’s Business and Property Courts, or before adjudicators, arbitrators, both domestic and international, and other tribunals.
Claims tried in the TCC involve construction and engineering projects both here and abroad, IT, environmental, professional negligence and property dilapidation disputes and adjudicators enforcement. TECBAR is a member of the Bar Council and a TECBAR representative attends its meetings.
On behalf of TECBAR I would like to welcome you to our website.
TECBAR is the specialist Bar association for barristers who specialise in construction and technology law. We represent over 400 members who provide specialist advice, advocacy and alternative dispute resolution services. Much of the work of TECBAR’s members is done in the Technology and Construction Court (which forms part of the Business and Property Courts of England and Wales) but members also have particular experience in adjudications and often act in arbitrations and other dispute resolution processes all over the world.
Members will find useful information and links to the relevant Civil Procedure Rules, the Pre-Action Protocol, the TCC Guide and handouts from and videos of previous TECBAR lectures as well information about upcoming events, both educational and social.
For those non-members who are visiting the site, as well as having unrivalled expertise as advocates and advisors TECBAR members also act as arbitrators, adjudicators, mediators and dispute resolution board members in construction, IT and other commercial disputes. A list of TECBAR accredited adjudicators, arbitrators, mediators and dispute resolution members together with instructions as to how you can nominate/appoint a member to act in your dispute can be found here.
